Dr Ruth Brady

Area of focus: Facial Aesthetics

Ruth qualified from the Liverpool Dental School in 1981 and was a practice owner for 33 years. She started training in the field of Facial Aesthetics in 2004, meeting Professor Bob Khanna for the first time in 2006, and was infected by his enthusiasm for the subject. She then went on to attend his full range of Facial Aesthetic courses at the Dr BK Institute in Reading, including the Supermasterclass. She is now a Senior Instructor at the Institute and assists Bob in his advanced courses, the team now referring to her as ‘part of the furniture’!

In 2014, having relocated home to North Yorkshire and about to go into retirement from dentistry, Ruth was invited by the partners at Dental Excellence at Harewood, near Leeds, to introduce  Facial Aesthetics into their prestigious new referral and teaching practice.

Academic background.

Ruth studied Dentistry at Liverpool University Dental School, qualifying in 1981.  She then trained in Dental Implantology, Advanced Restorative Dentistry and Occlusion at the Sheffield and Manchester University Dental Schools. In 2004 she started training in Advanced Non Surgical Facial Aesthetics at a world renowned institute in Reading, where she is now the senior instructor and ambassador.

Why come to Ruth for treatment

Ruth’s hallmark is ‘the natural look’. She considers and analyses the whole face to assess how youth and balance can be restored, in accordance with correct anatomy, rather than just considering features in isolation.

In full face cases, she likes to do her work in stages, to achieve a gradual transformation so that it is not obvious that the patient has been receiving treatment. A very empathetic clinician, she is very good with nervous patients.

Why do you work at Dental Excellence

Love being part of a team which offers every aspect of dentistry including Advanced Non Surgical Facial Aesthetics. Ruth concentrates on the ‘frame’ whereas the other clinicians treat the ‘picture’. She enjoys running her Advanced Facial Aesthetics Study Group at their well equipped teaching facility.

What case are you most proud of and why

So many across different age groups – impossible to single just one out! But the greatest thrill comes from transforming the confidence of individuals who felt inhibited by their appearance beforehand.
